Been Phished Recently?

Users of the Internet will be familiar with the term spam, but phishing is more sinister.

Phishing is a technique used to gain personal information for purposes of identity theft, by using email messages that appear to come from legitimate businesses, most commonly banks.  These authentic looking messages are designed to lure recipients into divulging personal data such as account numbers and passwords and credit card numbers.

It is common for phishing emails to contain links to a website that is a convincing replica of the company??s home page.

You are encouraged to provide your password, PIN, credit card, etc from a message instilling some sense of urgency.

Your protection is to be alert ?? pause and think.  Is this likely to be a genuine request?

Would you give a stranger a signed blank cheque on your bank account?  Your Internet banking password and PIN are equally as crucial.
